Julie Spowart, Massage Therapist

Growing up, I always massaged my mum and dad's hands and feet to help relieve their daily stresses. As the years went on, this progressed to shoulders and backs…and my sister! My family have always urged me to take up massage as a profession, but it wasn't until I attended baby massage classes with my son that I seriously considered studying massage therapy.

I am so happy to now be able to offer massage at KnotStressed Therapies. I am interested in working with all kinds of clients from business people with ‘office shoulders’ to pregnant women looking for an effective and relaxing treatment, from sports people training for an event to clients looking for some time out and tension relief.

I approach every treatment holistically and my aim is to help remedy any pain and offer rehabilitation, while providing an escape from stresses and encouraging relaxation.

I have gained my Sports and Remedial Massage Diploma and techniques learned include: Myofascial Release, Muscle Energy Techniques (MET)/ Specific Positional Active Release (SPAR)), Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF stretching), NMT, Resisted Stretch, Eccentric Contractions.
I am working towards my Advanced Remedial training currently.

Further training and qualifications gained in Indian Head Massage, Thai Foot Massage and MLD (Manual Lymphatic Drainage).

When I am not massaging, I am usually found cooking with my son, enjoying time with my family and letting loose in the Karate studio!
