Lynne-Marie Thom, Massage Therapist

I started my journey as a massage therapist after experiencing a period of prolonged stress in my life. Massage helped bring me out of a stressed state, provided relief from pain and helped me achieve an element of balance in my life.  I have long sung the praises of receiving a quality massage and, I have no doubt that massage can have a very real effect on an individual’s health and wellbeing.

When I first made my transition from the corporate world and embarked on my Holistic Massage training, something deeply resonated with me and since finding this passion of mine, I have been amazed at the effects of massage on my clients, whether they are suffering from stress, day to day aches and pains or seeking a means of maintaining muscle health and mobility whilst working toward their strength and fitness goals.

I gained my diploma in Holistic Massage with Rosslyn Alternatives in 2014.  Holistic Massage really does consider the whole person and this qualification provided me with the ideal foundation for working with clients intuitively, using a range of techniques and a flexible approach depending on client need.

Since then, and to support this client centred approach I have embarked on my own personal quest - always looking for new skills and techniques to add to my therapy toolbox.  I worked for several years in NHS physiotherapy rehab teams and gained a whole host of assessment techniques and treatment knowledge, which I apply to my current work in massage.  Further, I have undertaken extensive advanced training in:

Remedial & Sports Massage Diploma (Western School of Massage)

Pregnancy Massage (Knotstressed Therapies)

Postnatal Massage (Knotstressed Therapies)

Hot Stones Massage (Rosslyn Alternatives)

Myofascial Release Level 1 (MFR UK)

Neck & Shoulder Pain (Jing)

Achilles Tendinosis (Jing)

Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (Jing)

I am also Reiki Level 1 accredited and hold a Certificate in Counselling Skills (COSCA).

I am registered with the Scottish Massage Therapists’ Organisation (SMTO) which is committed to elevating manual therapy standards in Scotland. Its focus on therapist care, education and professionalism, embodies my own values of continuous learning and development, longevity and quality outcomes for clients.

Besides massage therapy, I have many passions including cycling, running, swimming, paddle boarding and CrossFit!  These fun and active hobbies mean that I consider massage an essential part of my own life in order to help me to keep moving pain free and with joy, something I plan to do for the rest of my life!

If my approach resonates, I’d be delighted to help you with your own specific goals or challenges.  Please drop me an email to enquire.
